‘I have empirical basis… I stand by what I’ve written, I’ve no regrets’: Gautam Navlakha

New Delhi, February 19: Prominent  senior  Indian journalist and human rights activist Gautam Navlakha has reaffirmed that he stands firmly by his writings, including his work on Kashmir, stating that his views are based on empirical evidence and honest analysis despite years of incarceration in the Elgar Parishad-Bhima Koregaon case. Interview with Indian Express Navlakha, 73, said he has no regrets about his writings on the Maoist movement and Kashmir, emphasizing that he has always provided a factual and reasoned basis for his opinions. Expressing happiness over his return to Delhi after nearly six years in custody and house arrest, he said his immediate focus is on settling back home and managing his health, adding, “My journey begins now. Let’s see how it goes.”

16-year-old Kashmiri shawl seller brutally attacked in Uttarakhand

Srinagar, Jan 29 , 2026: The Kashmiri teenager (16-year-old ) shawl seller was brutally attacked by Hindutva Hindus in Uttarakhand state.The 16-year-old Kashmiri had traveled from occupied  Kashmir to earn a livelihood through honest means in India was assaulted a group of Hindus without provocation , leaving him with serious injuries that required 15 stitches. The  teenager sustained head injuries and a fractured arm in an communal attack in Vikas Nagar, Uttarakhand.He was rushed to hospital and is now in stable condition.

Fire services crippled by 41% staff shortage amidst rising fire incidents in IIOJK

Despite claims of improved connectivity, no substantial consignments of Kashmiris local resources including apples and handicrafts logistics have been transported out of Kashmir via rail services.
 In September 2025, apples were not even transported via the Mughal Road (Shopian–Poonch) when the Srinagar–Jammu highway remained closed for nearly two weeks. Large quantities of apples rotted in stationary trucks along the highway. This occurred while BJP governments Adani-linked entities reportedly maintain major apple production farms in Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, and a significant share of apple exports were routed to Bangladesh.

Police in riot gear have been stopping pedestrians and motorists, checking their mobile phones and even forcing people to unlock their devices to detect VPN use. According to Al Jazeera, the move has significantly intensified psychological pressure on Kashmiris, who were already living under pervasive surveillance.

 Srinagar, November 19: Indian forces personnel launched violent cordon-and-search operations in Baramulla district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.Indian Army, paramilitary and Border Security Force personnel conducted search and frisking operations in Uri and other areas of the district. Army officials said the operation was launched after detecting suspicious movement near the Line of Control in the Uri area. However, no recoveries were reported at the time of filing this report.
