November 27, 2025New Delhi: Widespread outrage has erupted across India following two alarming incidents highlighting the vulnerability of minorities and the failure of authorities to ensure their safety.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, a video circulated on social media showing an elderly Muslim cab driver being forced to chant “Jai Shri Ram” by a young man identified as Rohit Dharmendra Pratap Singh. The footage, filmed near the Taj Mahal parking area, shows the visibly distressed driver being pressured repeatedly, with the youth warning him that he would “have to say it within three days.” The clip, captioned “the real terrorists,” quickly went viral.
The timing of the incident, coinciding with the flag-hoisting ceremony at the newly constructed Ram Temple in Ayodhya, drew sharp criticism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed devotees, while an elderly Muslim man in Agra was subjected to intimidation in the name of the same deity.
Meanwhile, in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh, protests erupted over the rape of a six-year-old girl in Panjra village. The accused, reportedly a local labourer, absconded after luring the child into a forest with chocolates before committing the heinous act. Residents of Chiklod, Gauharganj, Obaidullahganj, Mandideep, and Raisen blocked National Highway 45 in protest, leaving thousands stranded.
The Muslim community has emerged at the forefront of demanding justice, submitting memoranda to local authorities and calling for the accused to face the death penalty. Leaders emphasised that safeguarding children transcends communal boundaries. Congress representatives also joined the protests, demanding immediate arrests and swift legal action.
Both incidents have highlighted the continued vulnerability of minorities and women in India and the urgent need for protective measures. Civil society leaders, human rights activists, and local residents condemned the acts, calling for strict enforcement of laws, timely justice, and societal accountability to prevent further intimidation, harassment, and violence.
