Curfew continues in parts of Srinagar for 7th day

 Srinagar, December 4 : Several parts of Srinagar city, remained under curfew imposed by the authorities for the seventh consecutive day, today.

WEDNESDAY, 14 NOVEMBER 2012  : After passing through tough interrogations in infamous Cargo interrogation center in Srinagar for 15 days followed by a six month long detention in Central Jail Srinagar and Central Investigation of Kashmir (CIK) Humhama, Syed Mastan Shah of Rajouri was finally acquitted and was declared innocent by the court.

354 still booked under long-gone black laws TADA, POTA in Kashmir

 Srinagar, October 11: In Srinagar, the regime led by Omar Abdullah on Wednesday hags admitted that 354 people were charged under the repealed black laws — Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) and Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Giving information to the supplementary question of Congress puppet legislator Ravinder Kumar Sharma, the authorities of regime informed the so-called Legislative Council that 323 persons were booked under TADA in 63 cases and 31 under POTA — repealed long back.

Sopore teenager detained without trial in Kashmir, Amnesty urges authorities to release

Srinagar, July 17 July 2012:  Amnesty International (AI)  has urged the authorities in Kashmir to immediately end the detention of a Sopore youth, Mushtaq Saleem Beig. AI south Asia Director, Ramesh Gopalkrishnan in a statement stressed that if Mushtaq Saleem Beig was to be held on charges of a recognizably criminal offence, and if he was under 18 years old, he be afforded all fair trial guarantees set out in international law and specifically the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by India.

Dead Major Avtar still haunts Kashmiris

Fri, 06 July 2012 Kashmir Reader- Srinagar: It may take a while for the prosecution to authenticate Indian army Major Avtar Singh’s death in the court, but his ghost continues to haunt his victims in Kashmir.

Major Avtar Singh of the Indian Territorial Army, the prime accused in the 1996 custodial murder of rights activist and lawyer Jaleel Andrabi, was a much feared figure for the locals. He reportedly committed suicide at his Fresno house in the US before shooting his wife and three children on June 10.
