Student killed in Sopore violence

Srinagar, May, 18  2014: Unidentified gunmen in an inhuman act had tied a 24-year old college student Abid Dar son Ghulam Nabi Dar to a tree trunk before shooting him in his head from a point blank range during the intervening night at Tarzoo in Sopore. Police said he was final year student of Govt Degree College Sopore identified as Abid Nabi Dar son of Ghulam Nabi.

Police harassment on Journalists in Kashmir

Srinagar: Friday, May 2nd, 2014: Several Kashmir journalists said that  police harassed and barred them from doing their professional duty during a protest in  Srinagar on Friday.
The journalists said that policemen hurled abused them and they were chased. “We went to Hyderpora in the afternoon. There were protests. But police stopped us from covering them. They abused us and also chased us,” Tauseef Mustafa, who works as a photographer with AFP said. He said police forced us to leave the spot.

‘Police arrested over 500’ youth in Kashmir valley'

Srinagar, Monday, 28 April 2014  : Police have arrested over 500 youth across Kashmir valley, to prevent them from pro freedom protests.   According to police officials, 70 youths have been arrested in Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian, Awantipora and Kulgam areas while 400 youths in Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderble and around 60 youths from North Kashmir.

SPO disengaged for eve teasing

JAMMU, Jan 11, 2014: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was arrested and disengaged for indulging in eve teasing in district Doda.  Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Mohammad Sharief Chouhan told that an SPO namely Anoop Kumar, son of Sat Pal Sharma of Barshallah Thathri, posted at Gandoh was found indulged in eve-teasing at Pul-Doda. 

FIR registered against Sarpanch of rape

 Jammu, Jan 3, 3014:  An FIR has been registered against a Sarpanch for allegedly raping a married woman in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said Friday.
The FIR was registered on the complaint of the woman of Qasba village yesterday, police said.
