16 years on, Sailan Poonch massacre survivors recount horror, delay in justice

Srinagar, August 04 : On the 16th anniversary of massacre of Sailan in Poonch district, the relatives of the victims decried inordinate delay in justice and vowed to continue their struggle for bringing the culprits to book.
The relatives, mostly survivors of the brutal massacre, in which 19 people including 11 children of three families were killed by four Special Police Officers (SPOs) and personnel of 9 Paratroopers of Indian Army on intervening night of August 3-4, recounted the incident with tearful eyes during a press conference in Srinagar.
 

Perpetrators of extrajudicial killings in Kashmir continue to evade justice: Amnesty

London, February 26 : The global human rights watchdog, Amnesty International (AI) has said that perpetrators of extra-judicial executions in Jammu and Kashmir continue to evade justice.
The Amnesty in its 2104-15 report on human rights situation in Kashmir highlighted a number of high-profile human right cases including 2010 fake Machil encounter, 2000 Pathribal fake encounter and many other cases to point out failure of authorities to take action against the culprits.  Dozens of innocent civilians were killed by Indian troops in these staged-managed encounters. 

Ex-SOG officer threatens Kashmiri newspaper editor to teach a lesson

Srinagar, November 09:  In Srinagar, former officer of the counterinsurgency Special Operations Group (SOG), Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, has threatened an editor of a Kashmir Valley-based newspaper to teach him a lesson for “painting a bad picture” of him in a news report.
Bukhari, who retired in February this year as Srinagar’s Senior Superintendent of Police and retained his official phone number, rang up Kashmir Reader Editor Showkat A. Motta in the morning, the other day, to convey the threat.

Minor Girl ‘gang-raped’, in Kashmir’s Kishtwar, by VDC’s

Srinagar, June 10, 2014: KISHTWAR: The family members of a 12-year-old victim  ( a 5th standard student )have said that they were stopped at gunpoint by members of the Village Defence Committee (VDC) from filing a police complaint after a 15 year girl was abducted and raped by VDCs.  
A teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped by identified as Suhdharshan Kumar, son of Karam Chand, and Nitin Kumar, son of Saroop Chand. Both of them belong to Joshan Drabshalla village, the  members of the notorious Village Defence Committee (VDC), a local media men reported.

Srinagar, 19 May : A seven-year-old girl Simran Reyaz was killed and two other including her brother  Fayaz Ahmed Parrey, 5- year lost his legs  after the Indian Army's leftover shell went off at Drang area of Tosa Maidan in Badgam.
The Indian Army's leftover shell went off at Drang area of Tosamaidan in Budgam district killed 7-year-old girl Simran and injured two others when they were playing outside her school during lunchtime. Fayaz has lost both of his legs and has been rushed to a hospital in Srinagar
