Indian NHRC received 1302 cases of human rights abuses from Kashmir in 4 years

Srinagar, December 15, 2013 : The Indian National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) received 1,302 cases of human rights violations from d Kashmir during last four years.
A report published in a daily news paper in Srinagar said that out of total 1,302 cases registered since 2010, 1077 cases had been disposed off and 225 were still pending with the Commission.

High Court in Srinagar orders probe into Kashmiri youth’s disappearance by Police officer

Srinagar, November 05, 2013 :The High Court has directed police to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to be headed by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to investigate the disappearance of a youth, Showkat Ahmad Paul, in Indian army custody from Lawaypora in Srinagar in 2003.
The youth’s family insists that Showkat Ahmad Paul disappeared in army custody.

Srinagar, September 7, 2013 :  At least four civilians including Mohammad Yousuf of Durpora, Zainpora and Towseef Ahmad Bhat were killed in Indian paramilitary firing at Gagrun village in shopian district today, police siad.
Locals, talking to media men siad that the Indian paramiltary forces killed innocent civilians in what they say was a cold-blooded encounter. Soon after the incident, hundreds of people took to the streets and clashed with Indian forces in Shopian. 

Indian froces firing at Budshah Chowk Srinagar, civilian Injured, Malik, Untoo arrested

Srinagar, September 7, 2013 :Panic gripped entire Lalchowk when gunshots were heard in nearby Budshah bridge. According to eye witnesses, Indian armed forces Central Reserve Police Force fired at a vehicle  near Budshah Bridge near the city centre Lal Chowk injuring three persons including traveling in it. The witnesses told Kashmir Life that the car is lying upside down at the spot and the injured identified as Muhammad Iqbal Sheikh of Machuwa Chadoora and two women have been shifted to hospital.

Kashmir’s top cardiologist succumbs gunshot wounds

Srinagar, August 17 : Noted cardiologist of Kashmir, Dr Sheikh Jalal-ud-din, who was critically injured in an attack by unidentified gunmen last month, passed away in New Delhi, today. Dr Jalaal was critically injured when unidentified gunmen killed two police guards and he was critically injured in the incident in Pampore on July 18. 
He was first operated upon at the Soura Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar. He was later flown to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi for specialized treatment on July 21.
