New Delhi,July 26 :The National Human Rights Commission of India has issued notice to Director General of Prisons, Bihar of Indian state, over reported of poor quality of food being served in jails.
The NHRC, India has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that poor quality of food is being served to the prisoners in Begusarai Jail, in Bihar, said in a statement.
The commission has issued notice to DG, Bihar calling for a report in the matter within 6 weeks.
Besides the quality of food, the report should also include the status of other basic facilities for the prisoners in the other jails of the state, said the commission.
The matter came to the notice when a prisoner lodged in the Begusarai Jail approached the Secretary, District Legal Services Authority.
Govt officer booked for posting misleading anti-Muslim video
New Delhi, July 26 : The Uttar Pradesh Police filed a case of disturbing peace against Hindutva supporter and government official Madhu Kishwar on anti Muslim video on social media.
The 2017 video has been shared with a sinister motive to mislead the viewers about the incident purported to be of recent origin projecting Hindus as being victimised.
The video shows how Hindu devotees were booked for deliberately mowing a Muslim man by their vehicle in the Deoband town of western Uttar Pradesh of Indian state.
The case filed by the police in the Saharanpur district names those who shared the video while clarifying that it was misleading about the incident that took place in 2017. The FIR is loged against Madhu Kishwar along with four other persons.
The police urged the users to delete the posts. The case registered in Deoband Police Station.
Madhu Kishwar, an academic, is known for her anti-Muslim rhetoric and peddling conspiracy theories against the community. She is also an ardent supporter of the Hindutva BJP Government and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She is currently chair of the Indian Council of Social Science Research.
4 Congress Lok Sabha MPs Suspended for Entire Monsoon Session for Protest Holding Placards
New Delhi, July 26 : Four Congress of Indian Lok Sabha MPs were suspended for the entire Monsoon session on protests with placards inside the House.
The four Congress MPs — Manickam Tagore, Ramya Haridas, Jothimani and T.N. Prathapan have been suspended for the entire Monsoon Session ending August 12 for holding protests with placards inside the House.
Speaker Om Birla had earlier warned them to behave and not to hold the placards inside the Lok Sabha house if they wanted to protest.
As the proceedings began in the Lok Sabha on Monday after the swearing-in ceremony of Indian President Droupadi Murmu, the opposition members started sloganeering on the issue of price rise and hiked GST rates. Some MPs were seen holding placards and banners and some Opposition MPs reached the well of the House.
The Speaker said the government was ready to discuss the issues. He warned them against waving placards as it violated the rules of the House.
“Any member who brings placard into the House will not be allowed to take part in House proceedings. This is a temple of democracy, it is the responsibility of the members to maintain the dignity of the House,” said Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla as the opposition MPs continued sloganeering
Later, the four MPs went near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue on the Parliament grounds and raised slogans there.
