Mumbai, (India)November 14, 2021: Indian paramilitary and police personnle killed 26 Naxals including top Maoist leader Milind Teltumbde in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra state in India. The Naxals who are demanding justice and their rights were killed by Indian police commandos on Saturday at Korchi in Mardintola forest area of the district, located over 900 km from Mumbai, when a C-60 police commando team was conducting a search operation,a senior Indian police official said on Sunday.
The C-60 commandos, an elite wing of the police, had recovered bodies of 26 Naxals during a search, the police added.
“Teltumbde was among the 26 dead Naxals,” a senior state police official confirmed on Sunday.
Gadchiroli district lies on the border of Chhattisgarh.
The killing of 26 Naxals is reportedly part of a quick reaction or reiteration of Indian Home Ministry policy after the killing of the Assam Rifles,Colonel, his wife, son among 7 killed in Manipur blast ambush.
Earlier on Saturday , an Indian Army Colonel Viplov Tripathi, Commanding Officer of the 46 Assam Rifles, his wife, son and four troopers of the Assam Rifles were killed and six other troopers were injured, four of them critically.in a welter of IED (improvised explosive device) explosions and gunfire in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Saturday morning.
