Srinagar, July 08: An Indian army officer committed suicide in Poonch district. An officer of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) committed suicide by shooting himself at Mini Secretariat of Poonch in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, an Indian soldier Rishkesh Choubey who was injured in an accidental firing during a training exercise in Poonch district on Wednesday evening succumbed to his injuries in a hospital. The High Court has quashed detention orders of five detainees held under black law, Public Safety Act (PSA) and directed the authorities to release them from the custody.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the court while hearing the two separate petitions filed by Suhaib Azim Khan, Basit Ahmad Shah, Jahangir Ahmad Bhat, Kamaljeet Singh and Ali Hussain challenging their illegal detention orders passed against them by district magistrates of Islamabad, Budgam, Pulwama and Jammu districts, quashed all detention orders and directed the jail authorities to release the detainees forthwith from the custody.
The High Court upheld the detention of one Mohammad Shaban Bhat.
The Jammu-Srinagar Highway was blocked for traffic movement on Friday due to fresh landslides and slush at several places on the stretch. The highway has been blocked due to landslides, mudslides and slush at multiple places, traffic officials said. He said that no fresh vehicle shall be allowed from either side till clearance of road.
Meanwhile, Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumuri (SSG) road has also been closed for vehicular movement in view of maintenance and repair of Zojila axis. The official added that, however, traffic on the historic Mughal road, connecting the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch in the Jammu region with south Kashmir’s Shopian district is plying smoothly.
