IIOJK faces rising unemployment crisis as 3.57 lakh educated youth jobless

Srinagar, February 19 : Tens of thousands of vacancies are lying unfilled across government departments and public sector undertakings in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, with nearly 3.50 lakh unemployed youth registered with employment exchanges.

Official data reveals that 3,808 Gazetted posts, 22,501 Non-Gazetted posts, and 12,751 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) positions are vacant under the direct recruitment quota.
Additionally, 6,409 Gazetted posts, 24,451 Non-Gazetted posts, and 5,473 MTS posts are vacant under the promotion quota. Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also have 89 Gazetted, 7,010 Non-Gazetted, and 709 MTS posts lying vacant.
Kashmir has one of the highest unemployment rates under India. The territory's economy is heavily reliant on the government sector, with limited private sector opportunities, leading to a bottleneck effect. Critics argue that authorities are more focused on search operations and raids, rather than addressing the root causes of unemployment. KMS
