Bengaluru, Jan 7 : A Dalit woman was thrashed and dragged outof a temple in southern IndIan business city Bengaluru. The woman who claimed to be the wife of Lord Venkateshwara and wanted to sit next to the idol. When the priest stopped her, she spat on him.
This prompted a temple staff to beat her and drag her out of the premises. Locals said that the woman was mentally unwell. A video of a woman being kicked, dragged and beaten with sticks in a temple in Bengaluru has went viral on social media.
The victim Hemavathi had lodged a complaint with Amruthahalli police station stating that the said incident occurred on December 21 and the accused is Munikrishna, a head of the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Amruthahalli locality, IANS reported quoting police Friday.
The video shows the woman being repeatedly slapped, held by hair and dragged outside. The accused can be seen beating her with stick even as she runs for cover. agencies
