18-year-old boy Zahid Hassan Gadhanji killed by Indian troops in Pulwama

 
Srinagar, January 7, 2020:An 18-year-old boy Zahid Hassan Gadhanji was killed at Charsoo in Pulwama in south Kashmir on Tuesday in the first  of this year.  The police said a cordon and search operation was conducted this morning ,as we cordoned off the house, But the youth who was hiding in the House he jumped out of the house and in the brief fire he was killed. The family had told the police that Zahid had left home on January 2 and went missing. They had lodged a missing person report on January 5 at the Bijbehara police station.

 
 A student of class X, Tehseen Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmad of Nowgam, , was crushed to death by a speeding police vehicle in Nowgam area of Srinagar here on Tuesday following which massive clashes ensued between locals and police in the locality. 
 
Tehseen’s father Nazir Ahmad works as a peon in the same school where his son studied. He told NewsClick that Tehseen was on his way for tuition when he was killed by the police van.
 
 “They have taken away my life, they have crushed my eyes. I had never imagined my only son would be killed like this,” a devastated Nazir told NewsClick.
 
 As the protests were taking place in the locality, mourners rushed to Tehseen’s home, some of them preparing his grave in the same vicinity. Locals said, however, the police went on a rampage in the area following the incident.
 
 “They killed my son first and then hit my wife...she is not able to even mourn for her dead son,” Nazeer added.
 
 The devastated family of Tehseen including his only sister sat in their home waiting for the body, his mother Parveena, traumatised by her son’s sudden death, could hardly speak.
 
 “They hit everyone including women and children while we were on our way to attend my son’s family,” Tehseen’s grandmother said. 
 
Nazeer’s neighbors alleged the police broke the window panes of their homes as they barged into the locality firing shells. 
 
“They do not even allow us to mourn. The police created all the havoc in the area after they committed this heinous crime. The tragedy befell on the entire locality,” a local woman said.
 
 At least four others were also injured including a 62 years old person, identified as Mohammad Yousuf, who suffered a shell injury in his leg following the protests that ensued in the area. While Yousuf is being treated at Srinagar’s bone and joint hospital, three others have been discharged, according to an official in the hospital.
 
 According to eye-witnesses, the vehicle belonging to J&K armed police that killed Tehseen at around 9 am also rammed into a civilian vehicle and hit a power transformer leaving it damaged. The 16-year-old was declared brought dead at a Srinagar hospital.
 
People have registered an FIR. 
 
The boy was identified as Tehseen Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmad of Nowgam, a 10th standard student of Candid Public School. The injured girl was identified as Haleema, a resident of Chatergam, Budgam area of Central Kashmir.
 
Tehseen was on way for tuitions when an over-speeding Police vehicle first hit the private vehicle Alto K-10 bearing number, JK01 AK 4408 and later hit him. He fell down and was bleeding profusely. He was immediately removed to SMHS hospital, Srinagar where he was declared brought dead.
 
 Haleema, was on way to a private office in Srinagar, when she was hit by the police vehicle. She was admitted at SKIMS Bemina where she is being treated for multiple fractures and a liver injury.
 
Soon after the incident, massive clashes broke in the area with youth hitting the streets in protest against the death of the boy. Police resorted to aerial firing to disperse the protestors, who were demanding action against the erring driver.
 
Two persons sustained fire arm injuries and were taken to Bone and Joints Hospital Srinagar.
 
Police has registered a case FIR No: 03/2019 under relevant sections of law in this regard. Driver of the police vehicle has been arrested. “Further investigation in the matter is in progress”, a police spokesman said.
Indian Police arrested Khazir Mohammad Sheikh Resident of Swarbati, Bashir Ahmed Sheikh Resident of Swarbati and Zahoor Ahmed Butt Resident of Loharna in Dachhan area of Kishtwar District in Kishtwar.
 
A Village Defence Committee (VDC) member was arrested for allegedly selling a weapon to a Hizbul Mujahideen member in Kishtwar district, officials said on Tuesday.
 
Devi Dass was arrested after a case was registered against him for selling the weapon and ammunition to Hizbul  Tariq Hussain Wani in Kishtwar, a senior police officer said.
 
Tariq’s interrogation had revealed that he had purchased the weapon from Dass was arrested in December last year, officials said.
 
He had purchased the old .303 rifle and ammunition for Rs 1.50 lakh, they said.
 
Senior officer said that weapon was manufactured in the seventies.
