Tthe activists of People’s Freedom League staged protest from Abi Guzar, Srinagar.
The activists were raising anti-India slogans and against human right violations. The activists also made attempt to move towards UN office but were interrupted by police and later detained.
While government forces were detaining them, a policeman Tariq Ahmad fell from the vehicle and was injured in the head. He was rushed to hospital. A police spokesman said Tariq was in stable condition.
Meanwhile, another protest was taken out by Engineer Rashid “Ask us what Armed Forces Special Powers Act means, people fear to come out from their houses at night time even I do now. We are against Army rule, PSA, AFSPA and minor detentions,” said the Engineer Rashid who is also member of so-called Legislative assembly of Kashmir
Rasheed carried banners demanding President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, to accept clemency for Mohammad Afzal Guru who is in jail on fake case of the Indian Parliament attack.
He said that government of India and its regime in Kashmir has failed to punish any guilty government official or Indian army personal.
He also admitted “Omar Abdullah sells Kashmiri people for his chair.”
“On this international human rights day we want to remind whole world about Kashmir and we will present a memorandum in this regard at UN office.” he said
“I want to remind the United Nations that Kashmir people are living in prison and they are fed up from this now,” he said.
Rasheed and his supporters were not allowed to move towards UN office, but he signed the memorandum, which was accepted by police on behalf of UNMOGIP.
Rasheed castigated the government for failing to provide justice to Kashmiri people. He said: “Chief Minister Omar Abdullah works on the instructions of New Delhi.”
He said a clear example of this is when he gave directions, after Delhi pressurized him, to register a case against three persons from southern Islamabad district in connection with bear who set on fire. “It is shame,” the independent lawmaker said.
The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) today took out a ''Mashal'' (torch) procession to protest the injustice towards the Kashmir prisoners by the Indian judiciary.
Led by JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik, a majority of the precisionists carried ''Mashal'' in their hands and marched from the JKLF headquarters at Maisuma near here where Malik and other activists were on a hunger strike since morning.
The torch protest was held amid a shutdown called by the JKLF.
Members of many liberation groups participated in the procession.
The protesters shouted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
