Srinagar, July 6, 2012: Nazir Fatima, 45, of Kamalkot Uri in north Kashmir is mentally disturbed since the day she heard that her son Syed Danish was found dead in Balagunj area of Lucknow, in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Danish’s sister Surkhab Fatima, 17, is yet to believe that her brother, who had gone to Lucknow for IAS coaching, is no more. Same is the situation with Farhat and Nida, two younger sisters of Danish, who are waiting for his return. And Zeeshan and Muntazir, younger brothers of Danish, say “bhaya would return soon.”
Danish was found hanging from a tree on February 1 2012, rendering the entire family in a state of shock.
After finishing his bachelor’s degree from Government College in Uri, Syed Danish Ali of Kamalkot went to Lucknow for IAS coaching in October last year. “After four months of his stay in Indias UP, Danish was found dead behind Era Medical College, Beri Jungal Balagunj on February 1, 2012, hanging from a tree,” the family members were told on February 3.
“He was staying at Sarfarazgunj area as a tenant with three more students. He had also joined English language coaching at M Tech Academy there. On February 3, 2012 we were informed that Danish has been found hanging from a tree,” said Syed Rehmatullah, father of Danish to Srinagar based daily Greater Kashmir, IMRAN MUZAFFAR.
He believes that Danish was murdered, suspecting the involvement of his roommates. “He had no reason whatsoever to commit suicide. They [the roommates] conspired against my son and handed him over to killers on February 1,” he said. “I don’t know what could be the reason for his killing, but I want justice and police to probe the case properly to find the truth.”
Rehmatullah said: “The roommates were freed by UP police and not even questioned. We pleaded before the police to further investigate the matter but they threatened us of dire consequences in case we don’t end the case. Even autopsy report revealed that Danish was murdered. But we returned home after very little cooperation from police.”
Although an FIR was lodged in Thakurgunj Police Station Lucknow under section 302-201 of IPC crime No 75 of 2012, the accused were allegedly let off.
Rehmatullah said even after four months of the incident, Jammu and Kashmir authority and Indian state of UP government are yet to investigate the matter. “I request for a probe into the matter and bring the killers of Danish to justice,” he told Greater Kashmir.
