Victim’s family challenge authority allegation

Srinagar, May 07: The family members of Rafiq Ahmed Bangroo, killed by Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel during 2010 uprising, have condemned the authorities for trying to shield the killers and malign the deceased under false and fake charges.

Hilal Ahmed Bangroo, brother of Rafiq Ahmed, talking to media men in Srinagar, said that the CRPF personnel had killed his brother without any reason.   “Let them prove there was any FIR or case lodged against him (Rafiq). The police authoriteis are not even sparing the dead. It is unfortunate that the puppet regime is using choicest contemptible labels against the innocent youth, who fell to the bullets of their own forces personnel,” Hilal Ahmed Bangroo, brother of the deceased, told media men.

Hilal said that they would not act as mute spectators and would approach the court. “We will also approach families of other youth who were killed and chalk out a strategy against our kith and kin being labeled as criminals,” he added.

Recalling the fateful day, he said that they were accompanying labourers who worked at their home. “Suddenly CRPF men swooped and pounced upon Rafiq. They also hit a stone on his head and he became unconsciousness. After battling for life for a week, he succumbed to injuries at a Srinagar hospital,” Hilal maintained. Agencies
