Journalists protest thrashing of Indian troopers in Islamabad south Kashmir

Srinagar, October 12, 2018:: Indian paramilitary thrashed three photojournalist reporters and damaged their cameras. at Janglat Mandi in south Kashmir’s  Islamabad (Anantnag) district on Friday, 12 Oct 2018. 
Media persons on Friday staged a protest sit-in against the Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who beat up and damaged cameras and cell phones of Fayaz Lolu, Deen Imran and Junaid Lalu working with Indian TV channels. The journalists said they were beaten up by CRPF troops of 40 bn at Ashajipora, Islamabad on (Friday) late afternoon while they were performing their professional duties. The troops also damaged our cameras and cell phones, the reporters said.
They said the incident took place when the media persons were covering protests in the area amid shutdown against the killing of Dr Manan Wani.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Working Journalists Association (AWJA) held a sit-in protest and demanded FIR against the CRPF personnel.The concerned SHO told GNS that he will record the statement of the media persons who were beaten up. “FIR will be lodged and action taken accordingly,” the officer said.
