70 govt employees injured, 125 arrested in Srinagar

Srinagar, April 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, scores of government employees were injured and around 125 were detained by police during a protest against anti-people policies of the puppet regime in the occupied territory.

At least 70 government employees got injured in the police action and at least 125 employees including EJAC President, Khursheed Alam were arrested during their protest near the Badshah Chowk and Press Enclave in Srinagar.
The employees, who took out two processions from different points in the city and tried to march towards Pratap Park and Commissioner’s office, were intercepted by the police and used water cannons to disperse them. The protesters, who resisted the police move, were bundled into vehicles and were taken to different police stations,” an employee told media men.
Some shopkeepers at Budshah Chowk were forced to close their shops after the coloured water, used by police against protestors entered their shops. The shopkeepers expressed displeasure over the excessive use of water used by police.
The employees’ leader, Khursheed Alam told media men that EJAC leadership condemned police action and termed the protest programme genuine.
