Srinagar, May 01: On Saturday evening April 30, a street vendor, Shams-ud-din Mir, 24, alias Jana son of Muhammad Shaban Mir was killed by unidentified gunmen at Chankhan in Sopore town.
The gunmen fired upon from a close range and killed a cloth vendor identified as Shamsudin Mir, 24, alias Jana son of Muhammad Shaban Mir at Chankhan area of the town.
Shams-ud-din, 24, a street vendor was rushed to Sopore hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Local Police said that he was footpath vendor and they registered the case and started investigation
The local police said unidentified men fired at Mir from point blank range. He died on the spot. Mir used to sell clothes on a cart.
On January 31, unidentified gunmen (Indian armed agents) killed two sisters — 19-year-old Akhtara and 17-year-old Arifa of a poor family of Muslimpeer Sopore.
Another boy of a poor family, Sajad Ahmad Dar of Kralteng Sopore was killed by unidentified gunemn on April 10.
On February 10, unidentified gunmen fired at and injured two persons in Sopore.
A 33-year-old poultry shop owner at Chotta market, Majid Bashir Khan, was injured on his left leg. A few hours later, the gunmen resurfaced near the bus stand Sopore and fired at and injured Arif Ahmad Reshi. The Town is fully covered by Indian paramilitary forces, Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force and Special Operations Group.
A day before Shamusuddin Mir was killed; unidentified gunmen had barged into two houses in Iqbal Nagar, looking for some youth. They had opened fire in the neighbourhood, which is a few hundred metres away from the Army camp, Central Reserve Police Force battalion headquarters and the district police chief’s office.
On April 25, a father of 2 kids , 30-year-old Muhammad Ashraf Lone son of Abdur Rashid Lone of Chatipora, Rafiabad was abducted and killed in Kreeri by unknown gunmen.
